I worked for L’Arche in London for 14 years from the age of 20. During this time I also completed my training in Massage Sports medicine and Osteopathy and started a practice in London.
L’Arche was a strong and formative experience for me. I learned so much about myself and was able to give of myself freely in a community setting. I also met and married my wife, Joanne, and Sorrel was born in one of the L’Arche houses. I loved my time there.
We are now all involved again in L’Arche, but now in Edinburgh. Both my wife, Joanne, (Fox Street) and my daughter, Sorrel, (Davids House), work full time there. I have no role in L'Arche but aim to help in any way that I can. I was one of the drivers to take Fox Street to Blackpool for their first proper summer holiday in years. It was fantastic seeing everyone enjoying each others company and enjoying the dodgems!
Here at Fettle we will aim to help L’Arche Edinburgh in any way that we can. We will continue to do this by helping practically (by being one of the drivers whilst on the L'Arche holiday) and also raising money for L’Arche Edinburgh and Fox Street in particular.
Our main focus is to again raise money for Fox Street to go on holiday for 3 days each summer. The group would consist of 4 assistants and three people with a learning disability and would cost in the region of £1000. We will run 1 fundraising event each year to enable this to happen. We have already received money from local churches and individuals which helped send people on holiday in 2017. Thank you.
Please do contact me directly if you require any further information or would like to donate any money to this fund.
